The Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently issued Notice 2020-23 that extends the due date for certain time-sensitive acts specified in Revenue Procedure 2018-58, 2018-50 IRB 990.
The extension for WOTC means real dollars
Under the extension for WOTC notice, employers that otherwise would be required to submit IRS Form 8850 to a State Workforce Agency on or after April 1, 2020, and before July 15, 2020, have until July 15, 2020, to submit IRS Work Opportunity Tax Credit Forms to the respective State Workforce Agencies.
- WOTC is a Federal Program designed for employers. It’s specifically for employers who hire and retain certain individuals and earn tax credits up to $9,600 per qualified employee.
- Employers can increase their cash flow. But, employers will also be providing an opportunity for good folks to get back to work.
- Employees that start work for you between March 4, 2020, through June 17, 2020, can still be screening for WOTC until early July for potential tax credits!
If you are not taking advantage of the extension for WOTC, there is still time to get on board. You can also earn tax credits for employees already hired. With Efficient Hire, it costs nothing to get started. We help you optimize your WOTC program to earn the max credits possible, and you only pay for credits you earn.
